Jakarta, 12 February 2007, Ministry of Health- As of February 12, 2007, confirmed human cases of avian influenza stands at 84, of which 64 have died. The new case involved a 20-year-old women, “E”, a resident of Haridang hamlet, Sindang village, Garut District, West Java.

Jakarta, 9 February 2007, Ministry of Health - Until February 7, based onresult of checking from Laboratory of National Institute of HealthResearch and Development (Balitbangkes) of Ministry of Health andNAMRU-2, number of positive avian influenza cases has added to 2cases. Tthey are from Central Jakarta and Bantar Gebang, BandungDistrict, West Java. Therefore, until February 7, 2007, total numberof Avian Influenza positive in Indonesia reaches 83 cases, with 63 ofthem died.

Rome, 8 February 2007 Food and Agriculture Organization- Cats canbecome infected with the highly lethal H5N1 avian influenza virus, butat present there is no scientific evidence to suggest that there hasbeen sustained transmission of the virus in cats or from cats tohumans, FAO said in a statement today.

Jakarta, 5 February 2007 - The UN top bird flu official today praised Indonesia’s intensified avian influenza program, saying it will help save lives and prevent a possible pandemic.
