Jakarta, February 15, 2008 - Ministry of Health - APP, a 16 year old boy from Sragen, Central Java Province is confirmed to be infected by H5N1 virus based on the test results from the Health Research and Development Center of the Ministry of Health and Eijkman Institute in Jakarta. He experienced onset of illness with symptoms of fever, breathing difficulties, coughing on February 03 2008 and was treated by a midwife in Soka Village.

Semarang, February 14, 2008 - The Central Java Provincial Education Office and UNICEF has launched a campaign to raise awareness about the dangers of bird flu. Children and teachers from 10,000 elementary schools in Central Java's 35 districts received the kits that provide them with practical guidance on how to protect themselves from bird flu.

Jakarta, February 13, 2008 - Ministry of Health - DN is stated positive of avian influenza (AI) infection based on laboratory examination of National Institute of Health Research & Development (Litbangkes) and Eijkman Institute, Jakarta . DN (f, 14 years) who lives at Jln. Peta Barat, Gondang Village, Kalideres Sub District, West Jakarta, started getting ill and cough on February 2, 2008. On February 8, she was brought to Cengkareng Hospital, and then referred to Persahabatan Hospital and still getting treatment there.

Jakarta, February 4, 2008 - Ministry of Health - Up to February 3, 2008 Indonesia has confirmed 126 positive cases of human avian influenza, 103 of it are fatals. The Case Fatality Rate for bird flu in Indonesia has reached 81.7%.
